Free Tampa Art Shows You Can Catch Now
Tampa is one of the most iconic spots in all of the United States. Not only is it the site of some of the most beautiful waters on Florida's Gulf Coast, but it's also home to a wide variety of cultural and art shows. Today, art is now more accessible than ever, with citizens able to experience some of the best art shows for free! Below are some of the best art shows to catch in 2023 and how you can experience them with your friends and family.
Shine Mural Festival
The Shine Mural Festival is an art show that the entire family can enjoy and participate in. From October 13 to October 22, your family and friends can enjoy 14 new murals painted on the streets of St. Petersburg and the surrounding downtown areas. These murals will be on display and will help spread the word about local, national, and international artists.
If you or someone you know has a hearing disability, don't worry. The Shine Mural Festival is the first ever audio-guided art festival, guiding audiences through online content while they peruse through beautiful murals. Keep in mind that this festival is absolutely free!
Downtown St. Petersburg Art Shows
The Morean Arts Center is one of many art centers where you can enjoy free shows and explore some of the best contemporary art. One of the most influential shows to consider attending this year is the “Art Official Intelligence: The St. Pete Robot Exchange." This art show has pieces celebrating the past decade of "Metallic Mayhem," and features local artists.
The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, also located in St. Petersburg, has stunning art shows and exhibits throughout the year as well. These exhibits highlight works of art from different members of the Tampa community. For instance, “SPC Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition 2023″ highlights art from full-time and adjunct teachers. To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, you can also catch the free exhibit “The Hurricane Within: Vibrancy and Resilience of Hispanic Heritage." These are just some of the many free exhibits you can find throughout the year. Full details can be found online on the museum's website.
Surrounding Shows
You can also enjoy free solo shows in cities around the Tampa Bay area, including the Dunedin Fine Art Center in Dunedin. Five new exhibits, including "LOL: Funny Papers” with comic-inspired art pieces, ceramic works like “Amy Santoferraro: Kowtow Mountain,” and more will be on display throughout the year.
The USF Contemporary Art Museum, Tempus Projects located in the beautiful Kress building in Ybor City, and Hillsborough Community College are all sites offering free exhibits in the Fall. Check in with their websites for more detailed information on showings.
