Adventure Island
With over 20 breath-taking acres of waterlogged excitement, Adventure Island is one of the top water parks in Florida. Little adventurers can explore and play in the miniature wave pools; older children have several high-speed rides to choose from, and there are several serenity areas for the person that wants to relax and drift among the waterfalls. You can bring your snacks and beverages in coolers, or you can dine at several cafes and bars throughout the park.
Glazer Children’s Museum
Although this museum caters towards children, adults find themselves having fun as well. The Glazer Children’s Museum is lively, exciting, and rambunctious which are features most children enjoy. There are numerous hands-on exploration exhibits, airplane and cruise ship adventures, and a kid grocery store. Children enjoy hours of game time and creative imagination. While there is fun here for the whole family, children 11 years and under will enjoy this activity the most.
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
This 335 acre Africa inspired theme park has six roller coasters, over 2,000 animals, live entertainments and numerous areas of the park to explore. Bush Gardens Tampa Bay is known for its wild rides and exotic animals. Some infamous attractions include SheiKra, a 200-foot dive coaster, the 90-degree plunge, and animal feeding wallabies and kangaroos. Animal lovers can enjoy breath-taking views of roaming zebras, white rhinos and giraffes on the Serengeti Railway. As you walk throughout the park, there are several restaurants and snack bars to refuel you on your adventure.
Free Parks and Shopping Experiences
The Banks of Hillsborough River
Hillsborough River is an excellent place to take the little ones to play while you spend a few hours relaxing. There are several attractions along the bank, and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is a popular one. Children often play on the playground, at the spray-ground or roam the Riverwalk. About one mile from Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is the Water Works Park. Water Works Park includes live performances, festivals, picnic areas, and a jungle gym. Both parks are near the Museum of Art and Glazer Children’s Museum, so you can easily make it a day of fun for the children.

Although IKEA is a furniture store, it is a great location of fun for children, and it is free. While parents shop, this massive furniture store offers free daycare with plenty of toys and a ball pit. During the holidays, they offer free arts and craft days and free kid’s meals.
